Aging parents.
Right now it seems everywhere I turn, my friends are dealing with this. And in a region whose residents are older than the national norm, it’s an important issue that is really demanding our attention.
So we are giving it our attention in the February edition of Views & Voices.
In our “Salute to Caregiving” issue, readers share their stories and experiences with caregiving, as well as give a lot of good advice.
People from all walks of life share the joy of memories and the pain of advancing age as their parents grow older and deal with health issues. Others in the caregiving field share how they handle caregiving personally and professionally. Each story is poignant and meaningful and definitely comes from the heart of those sharing.
We address caregiving on a variety of levels, including fostering of stray and abandoned animals, a woman who caregives with her gift of hair care, recipes from St. Paul’s residents and employees to provide another way of connecting to their history and each other, the preservatory care of mansions in Rhode Island, and a way to learn the basics of CPR.
Heart health is also the focus of this month as the American Heart Association gears up for the 2010 Mercer County Heart Ball. Dressed for “Some Enchanted Evening,” AHA supporters share their stories of heart history and how they further this cause in their own ways.
We are thankful that Views & Voices can further these causes and hopefully can be some help to those in the caregiving or heart health fields.
Pick up this issue, put up your feet and take a well-deserved break. You deserve it!
We also invite you to nominate that special mother/grandmother/neighbor/friend/co-worker in your life for our “Mom Makeover 2010.”
