Bowling: Leaders listed for USBC Tourney, Merkosky and PNA Mixed leagues


Unofficial leaders in the team event of the 55th annual USBC Mercer County Tournament are as follows. Handicap Division: (1) DVO4 (2,919), (2) Spider Wasp (2,816), (3) Thornton Hall #44 (2,812), (4) Superior Heating (2,810), (5) Brownies Boys (2,759).

Scratch Division: (1) DVO4 (2,706), (2) Killer B’s (2,663), (3) Spider Wasp (2,610), (4) Brownies Boys (2,560), (5) Sunset Lanes #1 (2,513).

Spots are still available for the team event that concludes this weekend as well as the minor events that opened on Friday.

ä Olympic Fun Center was the 3rd session winner of the Dan Merkosky Memorial Classic League that competes at Sunset Lanes. They had 221 points. Team members are George Clark, Mike Clark, Pat Pruent and Chuck Laverty. G-Unit, the 2nd session winner was 2nd with 213, while Glancy’s Snow Removal was 3rd with 207.

Team season high’s are held by the following. Scratch series: (1) T.K. Systems (2,794). Team members are Fred Leunis, Larry Garm, Mike Yocum and Ron Achenbach Jr. (2) Whalen Law Offices (2,719), (3) Basilones (2,646).

Handicap series: (1) G-Unit (2,971). Team members are Quinn Thomas, Mark Spruk, Ralph Thomas and John Schell. (2) Olympic Fun Center (2,929), (3) M&M; Beer (2,906).

Scratch game: (1) Our Gang’s Lounge (1,026). Team members are Rick Busch, Pie Rossi, C.J. Bukus and Rick Coon. (2) Frogtown Driving Range (984), (3) Knott’s Interiors (967).

Handicap game: (1) C-G Pro Shop (1,050). Team members are Jim Dunkerly, Mike Guthridge, Steve Harper Jr. and Brian Chec. (2) McKrissy’s Escorts (1.049), (3) Strikers (1,042).

Individual season high’s go to the following. Scratch series: (1) Chec (804), (2) Jeff Laskowtz (800) and (3) Steve Quillen (779).

Handicap series: (1) Schell (855), (2) Ryan McCutcheon (834), (3) Larry Clark (819).

Scratch game: Jerry Jara, Coon, Leunis and Yocum (300). Handicap game: (1) Pruent (319), (2) Bob Balach (312) and (3) Tom Robinson (306).

Coon leads in individual match points with 72.5. Charlie Knott is 2nd with 69 while Chec and Schell are tied for 3rd with 59.

Laskowitz leads in average with 230. Coon is 2nd with 228 while Chec is 3rd with 224.

ä The Nittany Pub and Grill was the 3rd quarter winners of the PNA Mixed League that competes at Thornton Hall Lanes. They had 24 wins for the session. Team members are Mary Kaldy, Dianne Schuster, Tom Simon and Brian Geisel.

Competition was close as the top four teams finished within four points of each other. Thornton Hall Lanes finished 2nd with 22 points, while James Rankin Café finished 3rd with 21 points. Erme’s was 4th with 20.

Team season high’s are held by the following. High series: (1) West Side Beverage (2,067). Team members are Jim Joseph, Bruce Dangrow, Robbie Adkins and Pam McKinnon. (2) Joni’s Styling Salon (2,037), (3) Kovack’s Excavating (1,990).

West Side Beverage also has high team game with 742. Erme’s is 2nd with 741 and (WC1) Kuzman’s Lounge is 3rd with 726.

Men’s individual season leaders are as follows. High scratch series: (1) Brian Geisel (689), (2) Bill Geisel (665), (3) Fuzzy Winiecki (641).

High handicap series: (1) Simon (743), (2-tie) Chris Glancy and Fred Smith (723).

High scratch game: (1) Bill Geisel (268), (2) Brian Geisel (262), (3) Smith (252).

High handicap game: (1) Smith (293), (2) Doug Wheaton (280), (3) Bill Geisel (278).

Brian Geisel is the average leader with 199. Bill Geisel is 2nd with 192 and Dan Sadowski is 3rd with 185.

Women’s individual leaders are as follows. High scratch series: (1) Helene Roberts (704), (2) Adkins (616), (3) Joyce Geisel (603).

High handicap series: (1) Roberts (758), (2) Eileen Tolone (743), (3) Kaldy(708).

High scratch game: (1) Roberts (268), (2) Joyce Geisel (255), (3) Deanna Johnson (232).

High handicap game: (1) Joyce Geisel (285), (2) Roberts 280), (3) Mary Winiecki (276).

Roberts leads the women in average with 184. Johnson is 2nd with 177 and Adkins is 3rd with 165.
