GIRLS SOCCER
District 10 Class AA Playoffs
ä Hickory 2, Gen. McLane 1 — At Franklin High, the Region 2 champion Hickory Hornettes (16-2-1) ousted Gen. McLane (12-4-2) for the 2nd straight year in the D-10 playoffs.
M.K. Bair and Michelle DeGerolamo scored for Hickory. DeGerolamo had the game-winner off a corner kick with around 12 minutes to play in the 2nd half.
Jackie White and Isabella Spadafora were credited with assists. Morgan McBride made 8 saves in goal.
“We beat them (McLane) in the first round last year at the same place (Franklin),” said Hickory coach B.J. Rudge. “We lost a huge senior class and have seven sophomores that start this year. The girls came back and didn’t want the tradition to end.”
Hickory plays Mercyhurst Prep in the semifinals tonight at a site and time TBA.
ä Mercyhurst Prep 6, Grove City 0 — At Harbor Creek High School, the Lady Lakers (14-4) rolled past the Lady Eagles (11-6).
Mercyhurst Prep led 4-0 at the break and the Region 4 champs went on to oust GC.

BOYS SOCCER
ä Saegertown 2, Wilmington 0 — At Gen. McLane High School in Edinboro, the Panthers (14-4-1) upset the Region 2 champion Hounds (14-4) in the quarterfinals.
No stats were reported to The Herald.
Saegertown advances to face Region 5 champ Harbor Creek tonight.
In the other Class AA quarterfinal, Gen. McLane (11-6-2) routed Conneaut (9-8-2), 7-0, at Franklin High School. GM plays Region 4 champion Warren tonight.
VOLLEYBALL
District 10 Playoffs
Kennedy Catholic and West Middlesex both were ousted in Class A action. KC (12-4) suffered a 23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-10 loss to Saegertown (11-4), while West Middlesex (10-6) fell to Cochranton (12-2), 25-7, 25-14, 25-9.
Cochranton advances to play Sharpsville (15-3) in the semifinals at 6 p.m. tonight, while Saegertown will battle Maplewood (14-0) also at 6 p.m.
In Class AA, the Grove City Lady Eagles (8-6) were swept, 25-16, 25-11, 25-17, by Region 5 champion Fort LeBoeuf (13-0).
KC: Brie Dickson 15 digs, 10 kills; Yasir Muhammad 6 points, 16 assists, 6 kills; Courtney Sargent 5 blocks, 9 digs, 7 kills; Sarah Sommers 11 digs; J’Shawna Thompkins 7 points, 6 digs, 8 kills; Emilee Taylor 9 points; Tatum Kress 5 digs; Noelle Milan 7 points, 5 digs.
“It was a really good game,” said KC coach Joni Laeng. “I want to credit my seniors. They were awesome. It was a great season for the seniors, and their leadership was outstanding. These games go down to the wire and it could have gone either way.”
West Middlesex and Grove City did not report stats to The Herald.
FOOTBALL
ä Due to the weather conditions this week, the athletic department at Brookfield High has moved Friday’s playoff game against Ashtabula-Edgewood to Girard’s Arrowhead Stadium. Kickoff is still scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
ä Friday’s Wilmington at Farrell game has been canceled. The move was made due to field conditions at Anthony J. Paulekas Stadium and because both have qualified for the District 10 playoffs.
