BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
ä West Middlesex 18, Sharon 45; West Middlesex 15, Sharpsville 50; Sharon 15, Sharpsville 50 — At West Middlesex, the Big Reds (6-0, 10-0) captured the program’s 8th consecutive Region 1 championship, coach Bob Morris reported.
David Johnson (17:38) and Aaron Wilson swept the top 2 spots for Middlesex, while Cody Buchanan took 3rd for the Tigers in 17:55. The Blue Devils did not have a runner finish in the top 15.
“The kids really worked hard this season,” said Morris. “The second part of the season starts now.”
ä Lakeview 15, Kennedy Catholic 47 — At Hermitage, the visiting Sailors coasted to the top 5 berths and 8 of 10, led by winner Devon Workman (18:26). Bill Flynn stood 6th for KC (2-4).
ä Hickory 15, Wilmington 46 — At New Wilmington, coach Tony Mastrian’s visiting Hornets (5-1) had the top 5 placewinners, led by winner Logan Griffen (17:33).
ä Grove City 15, Reynolds 50 (forfeit) — At Grove City, the host Eagles eased to the Region 2 crown by finishing their dual-meet season undefeated, coach Mike Sample reported.
Dan Jaskowak finished 1st (no time submitted) for Grove City in the exhibition.
ä Commodore Perry 18, Jamestown 45 — At Pymatuning State Park the visiting Panthers produced nine top-10 placewinners, led by 1st-plae finisher Nate White (17:37). Christian McElhaney ended 3rd (18:30) for Jamestown.
ä Greenville 25, Slippery Rock 33 — At Slippery Rock, the visiting Trojans triumphed, led by winner Dylan Foley (18:51).
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
ä West Middlesex 15, Sharon 50; West Middlesex 15, Sharpsville 49; Sharpsville 19, Sharon 36 — At West Middlesex, Chloé Tyillian (20:27) took 1st for the Ms. Reds (6-0, 10-0), who copped the Region 1 crown, its 7th in the last 8 years, Morris reported.
WM swept the top 6 spots, Sharpsville’s Maddie Przicina placed 7th and Xsila Powell finished 9th for the Lady Tigers.
ä Hickory 24, Wilmington 33 — At New Wilmington, frosh sensation Lexi Bible bested the course record with her winning time of 19:26 for the visiting Lady Hornets (5-1), Mastrian reported.
ä Commodore Perry 28, Jamestown 29 — At Pymatuning State Park, Jamestown’s Lindsey Anderson annexed 1st in a time of 23:12, 64 seconds ahead of runnerup Shae Grinnell of Perry; however, the Lady Panthers produced six top-10 placewinners to cop the win.
ä Grove City 15, Reynolds 50 (forfeit) — At Grove City, the host Lady Eagles ended as undefeated Region 2 titlists, Sample reported, led by Hannah Sanford (no time submitted) in the exhibition.
ä Lakeview 15, Kennedy Catholic 50 (forfeit) — At Hermitage, the visiting Lady Sailors secured the top 8 berths in the exhibition, led by Andrea McConnell’s 22:42 clocking.
ä Greenville 15, Slippery Rock 41 — At Slippery Rock, Maddie Thrasher’s 22:41 clocking led the triumphant Lady Trojans.
BOYS SOCCER
ä Grove City 2, Slippery Rock 1 — Boosted by the play of defenseman-turned-striker Jake Gordon on Monday, Grove City (8-9, 2-7) got goals from Peter Conley and Cole Latimer.
Cole McCandless scored for Slippery Rock.
Jed Grimm had 3 saves for Grove City. Zack Latorre stopped 6 shots for the Rockets. Grove City had 4 corner kicks, one more than the Rock. Grove City put 8 of its 9 shots on goal; Slippery Rock put 4 of its 12 shots on net.
ä Conneaut Area 1, Kennedy Catholic 0 — At Butala Stadium Monday, the Golden Eagles dropped a tough defensive battle. Cole Snodgrass scored for Conneaut at the 21:09 mark in the 2nd half.
Kennedy Catholic is 12-2-1 overall, 6-2-1 in its region.
GIRLS SOCCER
ä Kennedy Catholic 4, Sharpsville 1 — At Butala Stadium, Hermitage, the host Lady Golden Eagles erupted from a 1-0 halftime deficit. Sharpsville’s Chandli Hasenplug, assisted by Aislinn Frazer, put the Blue Darlings on the scoreboard at intermission.
But KC’s Stacy Goclano garnered 2 goals, sandwiched by scores from Tawney Godfrey and Anna Benson. Benson assisted on Godfrey’s goal. For Kennedy Catholic (3-6 region, 5-10 overall) keepers Shelby McElhinny and Liz Volkay made 11 and 2 saves, respectively.
Racheal Toy tallied 5 saves for Sharpsville.
ä Hickory 4, Titusville 0 — Under the lights at Hornet Stadium, Sara Suler fired in a pair of goals and added an assist as the Lady Hornets (13-1) rolled past the Lady Rockets.
Jackie White had a goal and assist for Hickory, Michelle DeGerolamo scored a goal and Patrice Clemenza was credited with an assist. Casey Zreliak played the 1st half in goal for Hickory and Morgan McBride was between the pipes for the 2nd half. They combined to make 3 saves for the shutout.

ä Mercer 1, Sharon 0 — At Tiger Stadium, Sarah Stevens found the net in the 2nd half off an assist from Adely Cook as the Lady M’s edged the Lady Tigers.
Analise Whenry recorded her 9th shutout of the season by making 2 saves. Kelsie McGranahan was the losing keeper for Sharon.

On Monday at Toms Run, Blairsville, North Allegheny’s Kevin O’Brien edged Slippery Rock’s Brett Rinker, 71-72, to win the Class AAA individual crown.
According to the PIAA web site, North East’s Megan Moylan shot 77, not 72 as reported in Tuesday’s Herald.
