Fans of high school wrestling have a special night to look forward to this year — the second District 10 Legends Night at Thiel College on Saturday July 28 in the Rissell-Beeghley Gymnasium at 7:15 p.m.
Wrestlers will lace up their shoes one more time with ages from 20 to 51.
The District 10 Legends Night was created by Thiel College Associate Director of Admission and assistant wrestling coach Jeff Linn (2002).
This night will feature NCAA All-Americans, legendary coaches, former state champions and place winners from Pennsylvania District 10, which includes Crawford, Erie, Mercer, Venango and Warren counties.
The event will also include three former Thiel College NCAA All-Americans, Corey Brown (2012), Kyle Brown (2007) and Corey Murphy (2007), competing at “home” one last time.
All proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships at D10 Legends Night will benefit Eric Witherite and his family. Eric was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and currently teaches and lives in Erie.
The White Team roster includes coaches Dave Ciafre (Sharon), Neal Lineman (Reynolds), Rande Stottlemyer (Pitt) and wrestlers Matt Schiemer, Brandon Collins, Hayden Hawthorne, Josh Pearce and Stephen Ceremuga (Commodore Perry), Carmen Russo (Hickory), Le-wendo Teague (Sharon), Tony D’Urso and Kevin Drew (Reynolds), Kasey Davis and Barry Anderson (Meadville), Justin Ferguson (Greenville), Matt Wilcox (Maplewood), John Fleming (Lakeview), Bo Morrell, Chris Hogue and Matt Hogue (Cochranton), Chris Elliot (Kennedy Christian), Shelton Mack (Meadville), and Hudson Harrison (Gen. McLane).
The Grey team will feature coaches Eric Witherite (McDowell), Shane McChesney (McDowell) and Ed Onorato (Cathedral Prep). The wrestlers for the Grey team include: Jeff Langdon (North East), Greg Murphy (Corry), Shawn Reynolds (Cambridge Springs), Jordan Powell (Commodore Perry), Sean Byham (Saegertown), Shaun Ferguson (Green-ville), Kris Tursky (Conneaut Lake), Pino Scavella (Harbor Creek), Ryan Marovich and Brendan Bosko (McDowell), Joe Przybycien and, Andrew Church (Ft. LeBoeuf), Kevin McElhaney (Jamestown) Nick Wood (Corry), Corey Murphy (Corry), Don Henry (Harborcreek), Kyle Brown and Erick Brown (Mead-ville), Corey Brown (Rey-nolds), and Jeff Catrabone (Harborcreek).
The doors will open at 6 p.m., with matches starting at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults; VIP Seating, $15, and $5 for children (5 and younger free).
All tickets are available only at the door on the night of the event.
