WESTERN PENNYLVANIA —
District 10 champion Wilmington High’s Lady Hounds are making their second run in PIAA interdistrict softball action and today they’ll face a familiar foe: Valley High’s Lady Vikings.
In 2007, the Lady Hounds of coach Paul Smargiasso dropped a 2-0 decision to Valley. And while Wilmington is out to avenge that loss, this Valley is a big hill to climb. Valley is a perfect 22-0 and wears the crown as WPIAL Class AA champion.
One of the biggest obstacles for the Lady Hounds (22-1) in the 1 p.m. game at Slippery Rock University is Valley pitcher Caitlin Nealer.
