District 2 Little League results


Mercer won its pool play in the District 2 Little League 13-14 All-Star Tournament with consecutive wins over Greenville and Reynolds.

Mercer defeated Greenville, 12-6, Friday then followed up on Saturday with a 14-7 triumph over Reynolds to earn the No. 1 seed from the pool entering bracket play in that division. Greenville, which defeated Reynolds earlier, moves on as the No. 2 seed.

In the other 13-14 pool Saturday, Sharon rolled past West Middlesex, 21-7.

ä Mercer 14, Reynolds 7 — The winners scored 4 runs in the fourth and 6 in the fifth to break open a close game. Aaron Collins and Danny Miller pitched for the victors, while Justin Rhodes and Jason D’Urso toed the rubber for Reynolds.

Leading Mercer at the plate were: Joe Solomon 3 singles; Danny Miller, Zach Wimer and Christian Culligan a double and single each; Timmy Stainbrook a double; Collins 2 singles; Graydon Emhoff a single.

Pacing Reynolds were: D’Urso, Mike Custer and Justin Wolfe with 2 singles each; Justin Rhodes, Mark Davis and Tom Davis 1 single apiece.

ä Mercer 12, Greenville 6 — Mercer scored 4 runs in the second inning and never looked back. Emhoff and Solomon hurled for the winners, while Braden Gladysz and Chad Ferguson pitched for Greenville. For Mercer, Miller had a triple and double; Stainbrook 2 doubles; Emhoff and Brandon Little doubles; Culligan 3 singles; Jake Dominguez, Wimer and Collins 2 singles each; and Solomon a single.

For Greenville, Gladysz had a double and single, Jordan Fagley a double; James Grinnell, Zac Arana, Jerid Manning, Jason Irwin and Jason Forbes singles.

ä Sharon 21, West Middlesex 7 — The winners rolled, aided by 24 walks from 7 WM pitchers. Jimmy Anderson went 5 innings and Gino Merolillo 2 for the winners. Pitching for West Middlesex were Jesse Nych, James Gearhart, Jared McFarland, Chase Whelan, Justin Eshbaugh, Kyle Kitz and Michael Ginther.

Leading the victors at the plate were: Anderson a triple and single, Jason Sypolt 3 singles, and Justin Stefanowicz, Josh Nichols and Nick Carlo singles. For WM, Gearhart doubled; Eshbaugh had 4 singles; Collin Patton, David Devlin and Whelan each had 2 singles, and McFarland added 1.
