MAJOR DIVISION (12)
ä Grove City 11, New Castle 1 (5 innings) — At New Castle’s Dean Field, Ryan Grace allowed just one hit as Grove City improved to 1-1 in pool play.
Grace also struck out four, walked 3 and yielded an unearned run.
Grove City opened the game by posting 5 runs in the first inning, 4 in the fifth and single runs in the second and fourth innings.
Offensively for GC, Kyle Trinch went 3-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBIs; Foster Reznor homered, singled and drove in 2; Collin Lawson singled twice with a pair of RBIs; and Shane Grace plated 2 runs.
For New Castle (0-2 in pool play), Ricky Conti’s single was the lone hit, while Vince Janetti, Brandon Domenick and Nico DeJohn took turns on the mound. — Information submitted by Allied News Sports Editor Corey J. Corbin.
ä Sharon 13, Farrell-Wheatland 3 (4 inn.) — At Wheatland, the hosts took a 1-0 lead after the first inning but Sharon plated 9 runs in the top of the 2nd to put the game away.
Mike Songer, Cody Frazier and Leo Rahn pitched for Sharon. They combined on 8 strikeouts, 8 walks and did not allow a hit.
Trevor Austin and Gerald Zachar took turns on the hill for Farrell-Wheatland. The duo fanned 3, walked 7 and gave up 8 hits.
Offensively for Sharon, Justin Stefanowicz doubled and singled, Vinnie Shaffer ripped a double, Rahn had 2 singles and Songer, Nick Carlo and John Benedetto all singled.

ä West Middlesex 12, Grove City 0 (5 inn.) — At West Middlesex, Luke Patten belted a grand slam and a single and Jeremy Jansco homered and ripped 3 singles in leading WM.
Also for WM, Kyle Gilmore and Jarrod Palmer both doubled, Matt Dogan collected a pair of singles and Dillon Fair stroked a single.
Josh Doody singled for Grove City.
Jansco and Fair took turns on the hill for the winners. Jansco fanned 7, issued no walks and didn’t allow a hit in 3 innings of work. Fair tossed the final 2 frames. He struck out 3, walked none and gave up 1 hit.
Kyle Trinch and Shane Grace pitched for GC. Trinch went 3 innings, striking out 4, walking none and surrendering 6 runs on 7 hits. Grace came on in relief and fanned 3, issued no walks and yielded 6 runs on 6 hits.
ä Hermitage 13, Farrell 0 (3 inn.) — Hermitage plated 10 runs in the 3rd inning to notch the win.
Kevin Pugliese, Vinnie Mastrian and Mark DiBattiste combined on a no-hitter for Hermitage. They chalked up 11 strikeouts and walked 4.
T. Jefferson and F. Henry shared mound duty for Farrell. They fanned 2, walked 10 and allowed 7 hits.
At the plate for Hermitage, Pugliese and Mike Nardone both doubled, Alex Knisley ripped a pair of singles and Mastrian, Brooks Pletcher and DiBattiste all added singles.
Friday
JUNIOR DIVISION (14)
ä Sharpsville 12, Greenville 0 (5 inn.) — At Greenville, Mike Riffe twirled a complete-game 3-hitter as Sharpsville blanked Greenville. Riffe struck out 8 and walked 1.
Nick Huffman and Alex Olan pitched for Greenville. Huffman whiffed 3, walked 1 and allowed 12 runs on 10 hits in 4 innings.
Offensively for Sharpsville, Riffe tripled and singled, Chad Piccirilli doubled and rapped 2 singlets and Vincent Falconi, Anthony Sloan, Nick Siguenza and Matt Chuba all had singles.
For Greenville, Kyle Semroc doubled and Mike Black and James Saxion singled.
ä Sharon 11, Hermitage 6 — At Hermitage, Kassaum Ismail threw a 3-hitter through 5 innings in leading Sharon. He also tripled and singled at the plate.
Ismail fanned 3 and walked 3 while giving up 4 runs. Dan Stonebraker and Cody Cameron also pitched for Sharon.
Jon Korpon and Andrew Smith split time on the hill for Hermitage. Korpon started and went 4 frames. He had 2 strikeouts, issued 2 free passes and yielded 5 runs on 4 hits.
For Sharon, Billy Jackson and Rick DeMartinis both singled.
For Hermitage, Andrew Schafer ripped a pair of 2-baggers, Korpon doubled and singled, Smith had a double and Dalton Konop and Zack Shaffer both singled.
ä Mercer 17, West Middlesex 12 (9 inn.) — At Mercer, WM plated 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to tie the game at 12-all, but Mercer went on to score 4 in the top of the 9th to win the game.
Austin McElrath, Jason Urban and Justin Glass pitched for Mercer. They combined on 12 strikeouts, 5 walks and surrendered 11 hits.
Anderson, Haun and Jennings pitched for WM. They had 8 strikeouts, issued 8 walks and allowed 15 hits.
For Mercer, Guiler had a double and 2 singles, Collins doubled and singled, McElrath, Glass, DeAngio and Verigood ripped 2 singles apiece and Culligan singled.
For WM, Rodgers doubled and singled and Devlin, Haun, Bochert and Markl all added doubles.
