Action continues in District 2 Little League All-Star Tournaments

MAJOR DIVISION (12)

ä Hermitage 6, West Middlesex 5 — At West Middlesex, a 4-run 6th stanza was highlighted by Louie Derloni’s drive that scored Jake Andrzejewski with the game-winner. Also for Hermitage, Austin Akins whiffed 3 in 5ê innings and Tony Stigliano secured the save by striking out another, Andrejewski drilled a pair of doubles, and Aikins, Pat Moldovan, Brandon Rhoads, Chris Galantis and Evan Baughman banged base hits. Losing hurler Trey Staunch struck out 8 in 5 frames, and Riley Atterholt relieved. Stauch slammed a home run, double and single, Brandon Dick delivered another double, and Adam Hubert, Long and Gladysz garnered hits.

ä Brookfield 8, FOPA 3 — At Brookfield, Matt Smoot fanned 7, walked none and scattered 6 hits in the complete-game victory. Offensively, Smoot singled and doubled, Brandon Fraley tripled and Augustus Necastro had 2 singles. Andrew Tomko struck out 7 in the loss. Tomko and Howell had 2 singles each for FOPA.

JUNIOR DIVISION (11)

ä Hermitage 11, Sharpsville 1 (5 inn.) — At Hermitage, winning pitcher Anthony Nardone notched 4 strikeouts and was bolstered by Zach Cirillo’s grand slam. Also, Tyler Montroy doubled, Tyler Cannon singled twice, and Nardone, Joey DeJulia and Ryan Laverty lent hits. For Sharpsville George Keck, Ryan Polochak and Micah Smith took turns on the hill, Kevin Kolesar connected for a two-bagger, Justin Morris mustered a pair of hits, and Polochak poked another.

ä Grove City 14, Lakeview 4 — Collin Lawson went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI for GC and Ben Lucas earned the win. Lucas was 3-for-3 with 4 RBI, Matt Gordon drove in 2 runs and was 3-for-4, Kyle Bell went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Mackenzie Patterson was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Casey Gregg was 2-for-3 for Lakeview and suffered the mound loss.

MINOR DIVISION (9-10)

ä Hermitage 29, Sharpsville-B 8 — At Sharpsville, Hermitage leaders were: Cameron Pica, homer, double and 2 singles; John Roberts, homer, double single; Will Gruer, double and 2 singles; Chance Goeke and Byron Patterson, double and single each; Ethan Davis, double; and Jason Pursel, Josh Baum and Jordan Laird, singles. Pitching were Pica, Baun and Gruber. For Sharpsville, M. Razior had 2 triples and Wieland singled. D. Murray, Frazier, Edwards, Lukonic, Wieland, McCarthy and Carroll pitched.

ä West Middlesex 18, Farrell 5 (5 inn.) — Winning pitcher Marshall Murray mustered 7 strikeouts, and Josh Porterfield and Carl Hoover split 4 additional KOs. Also, Cade Franks tripled, Dustin Murray singled and doubled, Porterfield pounded a pair of hits, and Marshall Murray, Trent Kimmel, Jayce Burge and Brayden Gentile garnered hits. Arthur Shannon, Rarqwon Eilam and Aubrey Kolsky took turns on the mound for Farrell, with Shannon striking out 3. Also, Channing Phillips doubled and James Jackson stroked a pair of safeties.

ä Mercer 17, Lakeview 5 — At Brandy Springs Park in Mercer on Monday, Jim Amon had 2 singles and a triple as Mercer rolled. Also, Trent Leonard ripped 4 singles, Spencer Ference added 3 singles, Max Hamilton drove in a run with a sacrifice bunt and Brock Watson, Haylie Glass, Josh Wamboldt and Adam Walker singled. Watson, Ricketts, Glass, Amon and Leonard split time on the mound for Mercer.

ä Grove City 17, Sharpsville 7 (4 inn.) — At Grove City, Jeffrey Biddle banged 2 homers, Jordan Orloski and Tanner McKnight both tripled twice, and Colt Eccles added 3 hits, doubling twice. Also, Devin Reynolds ripped 3 hits, as did Kameron Patterson, Tanner Glenn got another pair of hits, as did Nick Davies, and Noah Harrilla had a hit. Winning pitcher Tyler Simmons struck out 5 and Eccles added 1êinnings of relief. Losing pitcher Sean Loedding, Cuyler McCarthy and Max Frazier pitched for Sharpsville. Garrison Wieland walloped a home run and single and Frazier and Connor Edwards ended with hits.
