Reimold AL 'Rookie of the Month'

Nolan Reimold has been named American League Rookie of the Month for June.

The Baltimore Orioles’ left fielder, in 26 games, batted .320 and led all AL rookies with 4 home runs and also drove in 9 runs and scored 13 during that span. He had a half-dozen multi-hit games, including a trio of 3-hit outings.

The 25-year-old Greenville native batted .394 in his first 31 games for the Orioles after he was called up from triple-A Norfolk in mid-May.

Entering Friday night’s game against the Angels in Anaheim Reimold was batting .287 with 5 doubles and 9 homers (73 total bases), 21 runs scored and 20 RBI. He had drawn 17 bases on balls, and his on-base and slugging percentages ware.363 and .510, respectively. He also stole his 1st MLB bag Thursday night.

Reimold is a product of Kennedy Catholic High and Bowling Green University, where he was the Mid-American Conference player of the year as a junior. Soon after that season ended he was selected by Baltimore with the 61st pick (2nd round) of the June draft.

Baltimore right-handed pitcher Brad Bergesen and Toronto Blue Jays’ southpaw Ricky Romero also were considered for the AL Rookie of the Month honor for June.
