Apostolic Christian Church changes name
SHARON — Apostolic Christian Church has changed its name to Cedar Avenue Bible Church, said Pastor Lester Kirk. The church meets at 664 Cedar Ave.
Scheduled speakers for February are Donald G. Reed, Sr., associate pastor and founder of Crossing Paths TV Ministry, on Sunday; Roma Alexeeve, a Russian pastor, on Feb. 14; Dr. Ernie DePasquale, co-host of Crossing Paths, on Feb. 21; and Pastor Gene Blakeman on Feb. 28.
Bible study starts at 10 a.m. Sundays, taught by Frank Kamovitch. Church service starts at 11.
Bethlehem Presbyterian offers women’s study
SHARON — A three-session Bible study for women will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday in Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 710 Carnegie Ave.
The class will study several women of the Old Testament using a discussion format, scripture and a DVD. The class will be led by Pastor Robbie Arnold of the host church.
Other sessions will be held Feb. 13 and 20. There are no fees or materials to purchase.

St. Paul’s to observe 100 years of Boy Scouts
HERMITAGE — St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 159 Todd Ave., Hermitage, will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America on Scout Sunday.
Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing Scouts, Explorers, leaders, and their families are invited for coffee, juice, and donuts at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by the worship service at 11.
All Scouts and leaders in uniform will receive a free patch, and Boy Scouting alumni also will receive a gift from Pastor David Williamson, who is the chaplain at Custaloga Town Scout Camp, and Boy Scout District Executive Bradley Parola.
Living Word Church to host guest pastor
HERMITAGE — The Rev. John Kowalczyk will minister Sunday in Living Word Church, 1109 East St., at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. services.

Black History service at House of Prayer
FARRELL — Pentecostal House of Prayer, 725 Fruit Ave., is hosting a church service for Black History Month at 4 p.m. Sunday. The theme is “Possessing the Promise: From The Black Church to The Church.”
Guest speaker will be Bishop Joseph G. McNeal, founder and overseer of New Wine Ministries Church Without Walls International. Dr. McNeal serves as chair of the board of presbyters for Seeds of Your Faith International, a fellowship of churches and ministries including Africa and Haiti.
Worship ministry will be provided by the Praise and Worship Team of Grace Evangelistic Faith Temple of Youngstown.
Intelligent design videos set at Sharpsville church
SHARPSVILLE — A free video series on intelligent design is scheduled to be shown in First Baptist Church of Sharpsville over three consecutive Fridays this month.
“Unlocking the Mystery of Life,” about the complexity of living things, is set for Feb. 12 in the church at 185 Union St. “Darwin’s Dilemma,” about the incompatibility of Darwin’s theory with the fossil record, is slated for Feb. 19. “The Privileged Planet,” which explores the unique factors that make Earth suitable for complex life that points to design, will conclude the series on Feb. 26.

Valentine’s weekend seminar at Grace Church
HERMITAGE — On Valentine’s Day weekend, couples are invited to learn tips on igniting and sustaining passion and commitment in their marriage through a Church Communication Network satellite seminar broadcast live in Grace Chapel Community Church, 4075 Lamor Road. The broadcast begins at 8 p.m. Feb. 12.
Jimmy Evans — an author, leading expert on family and marriage relationships, founder and president of MarriageToday, and co-host of “MarriageToday with Jimmy and Karen” — will team with his wife, Karen Evans, to reveal what they call time-tested secrets of lasting marriages.
Those secrets include the one element every good marriage has in common, the three factors that must be present to create and protect lasting love, how to understand and deal with dysfunctional methods of communication, and more.

Former Muslim to head Orthodox church retreat
SHARON — A former Muslim from Indonesia-turned-Orthodox priest will head a spiritual retreat at 10 a.m. Feb. 13 in St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 389 Clark St.
The Rev. Daniel Byantoro helped bring the Orthodox faith to Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world. His work over 20 years has helped produce priests and deacons ministering there.
Rev. Byantoro will speak on Orthodox beliefs and practices. Morning prayers begin at 9.
The program includes lunch, after which guest speaker Ted Khoury will discuss holy icons.
Free-will offerings will benefit missions in Indonesia.
Altar-Rosary group to meet at Fatima
FARRELL — Members of the Altar-Rosary Society of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann Church will meet at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 14 to recite the Rosary before the 9 a.m. Mass.
A meeting will be held at 1 p.m. in the cafeteria of Monsignor Geno J. Monti School.
Christian Associates presents music fest
HERMITAGE — Christian Associates of the Shenango Valley will sponsor Music Festival Sunday, at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 28 in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 3325 Morefield Road.
