South Py church to start motorcycle ministry
SOUTH PYMATUNING TOWNSHIP — South Pymatuning Community Church, 3400 Tamarack Drive, is starting its new “Sons of Aaron” motorcycle ministry at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays beginning May 6 and running weekly through mid-October.
A 20-minute outdoor Bible study at the church’s covered picnic pavilion and a group prayer time will precede a group ride starting at 7:05 p.m. The rides will cover 30 to 50 miles.
All bikes and bikers are welcome, but not booze, drugs or gang colors. Participants can just show up for the weekly rides if they so desire. There will be a recovery vehicle (a vehicle with a trailer) for each ride.
There also are plans for a bike rally at the church, some week-long trips and excursions on Saturdays to Kinzua Dam, Elk County, Nelson Ledges Park and elsewhere.

Lineup of performers set for gospel music benefit
SANDY LAKE — A host of performers are set to appear at the Gospel Music Benefit starting at 7 p.m. today in McQuiston Center by the Park, 29 Railroad St.
Mountain Railroad, Jeffrey Bevan, Curt & Janene Minshull, Tim McCall and Gina Toth, Ken and Terry Tenney, Bob and Linda Cook, Brian Shaw, SLIM Brothers and Sound Witness are scheduled to perform.
Attendees may make a monetary donation of their choice at the door.
Trinity Presbyterian sets open house, other events
MERCER — A Sunday school open house will be offered at 9:45 a.m. Sunday and May 3 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Market St.
Greeters at the door will tell interested parents of children turning two years or older in 2009 where classrooms are to enable them to become familiar with teachers, classrooms, routine, curriculum, and other parents.
Also, the church’s adult choir will present a 45-minute program of anthems at 2 p.m. Sunday at Countryside Nursing and Personal Care Home, 8221 Lamor Road, East Lackawannock Township; and at 3:30 p.m. at Woodland Place, 745 Greenville Road, Coolspring Township. A women’s book club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the church parlor for anyone interested in exploring spiritual and theological themes in contemporary novels. This month’s selection is “Lying Awake” by Mark Salzman.

Second Baptist marks pastor’s anniversary
SHARPSVILLE — Second Baptist Church of Sharpsville, at High and Walnut streets, will celebrate the 23rd pastoral anniversary of the Rev. James McKeithan at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Guest speaker will be Rev. Carol Missik, pastor of Living Word Church, Hermitage, who will be accompanied by her congregation. Rev. Donald Oatis will officiate.

Living Word Church marks 12th anniversary
HERMITAGE — Living Word Church, Hermitage, founded by the Revs. Carol and William Missik in 1997 as Living Word Church of Brookfield, will hold its 12th anniversary celebration Sunday, with dinner at 5 p.m., followed by a service at 6 p.m. in the church.
Guest preacher will be the Rev. Brian Johnson, pastor of New Light Missionary Baptist Church, Sharon. During the service, Marlene Reagle will be ordained as worship arts pastor.

4-day art retreat scheduled at Villa Maria
VILLA MARIA — Villa Maria Education and Spirituality will present “Art Retreat: Clay — A Way of Exploring One’s Relationship with God, Self and Others.” The program will run from 7 p.m. May 21 through May 24 in the Villa Maria Community Center, one mile south of U.S. 422 on Evergreen Road in Lawrence County.
