All-night service starts tonight at New Hope

FARRELL — An all-night prayer service is scheduled from 6 p.m. today to 6 a.m. Saturday in New Hope Baptist Missionary Baptist Church, 909 Lee Ave. Breakfast will conclude the 12-hour program.

The schedule of participants, and prayer and teaching topics includes (does not include all events; call 724-866-4338 for details):

Prayer for healing for community and body of Christ, 6 to 7 p.m.; Singer Masha Evans, Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, 7 p.m.; Singer Lerlean Sanders, 9 p.m. and 4 a.m.; Mimes Maria Ross and LaShae Johnson, 9:15 p.m. and 1 a.m.; Mimes Jackson Jones and Jalysa Hughes, 10:30 p.m., and by Jones at 1:45 a.m. and by Hughes at 3 a.m.; Singer Tracy Hughes, Hour of Power, 10:45 p.m.; Singer Mattie Miller, 1:30 a.m.; and singer Erlean Crosby Dryer, Triumph Christian Center, 3 and 4:45 a.m.

Teaching sessions will be on prayer at 9:30 p.m. by Elder Ruby Hopson, Commandment Keepers Temple; on the Holy Spirit at 11 p.m. by Pastor Clevon Dukes of the host church, at 1 a.m. by Minister Elmer Lowe and at 4:15 a.m. by Minister Brian Pleasant of Cedar Avenue Church of God; on the power of faith at 11:30 p.m. by Yolanda Green of Second Baptist Church in Sharpsville; and on the power of prayer at 3:15 a.m. by Evangelist Rachel Riley, of Harvest, Ala.

In addition to prayer sessions for the community and body of Christ, sessions will cover youth and financial blessings for the body of Christ.

Pentecostal House to mark pastor’s 8th year

FARRELL — Pentecostal House of Prayer will celebrate the eighth pastoral anniversary of the Revs. Keith and Letitia Banks with three special services in the church at 725 Fruit Ave.

Speakers are: Bishop Alvin McCoy of New and Living Way Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, Farrell, at 7 p.m. today; Rev. Morris of Greater Morris Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Farrell, at 5 p.m. Saturday; and Rev. Stanley K. Smith, St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, Meadville, at 5 p.m. Sunday.

New Beginnings Christian plans pair of concerts

GREENVILLE — An outdoor gospel concert is set for 6 p.m. Saturday in New Beginnings Christian Church, 73 Hamburg Road. One of the groups also will give a concert in the church Sunday.

Bethel Life Worship Singers, Stanley Singers (Bill and Alice), Amy and Harry Frantz, Divine Delay, Dave Poling, Dave Olshevski and NBCC worship team will take part in the outdoor event Saturday. Those attending should bring lawn chairs. The concert will be indoors in the event of rain.

Divine Delay also will give a concert at 10 a.m. Sunday in the church. An offering will be received.

Bethlehem Baptist cites pastor-wife, sets picnic

SHARON — The ninth anniversary of Pastor Leon Avery, Jr., and First Lady Monica Avery will be celebrated by their church family at the 11 a.m. service Sunday in Bethlehem Baptist Church, 858 Wallis Ave. A special guest speaker will preach and the mass choir will sing.

The church picnic will be Saturday at Chestnut Ridge Park in Hubbard, starting at noon. Charge is $3 for ages 12 and older and $2 for ages 3-11.

Shenango Valley Baptist to host Songsters

HERMITAGE — The Songsters Quartet will perform at 11 a.m. Sunday in Shenango Valley Baptist Church, 40 S. Neshannock Road.

The group has performed since 1960 with Jerry Waldrop Sr. as its founder. An offering will be received.

The Herald mistakenly reported that the concert was last Sunday.

I.H.S. family day features clown minister, Jacobs

HERMITAGE — Dale Goist, a Christian clown, and the Jacob Brothers will be featured Sunday at the Family Fellowship and Fun Day at I.H.S. Gospel Ministries, 786 Karen Lane.

Activities will follow the worship service and includes a catered dinner for which reservations were necessary. Goist will perform at 3 p.m. and the Jacob Brothers will be in concert at 6, with a campfire sing-a-long concluding the day.

New Light pastor slated for Community Baptist

FARRELL — The Rev. Brian K. Johnson, pastor of New Light Missionary Baptist Church, will speak at a 4 p.m. service Sunday in Community Missionary Baptist Church, 1013 Emerson Ave. He will be joined by his choir and congregation.

New Virginia United Methodist hosts events

HERMITAGE — The Renewal of Wedding Vows service in New Virginia United Methodist Church, 1100 S. Keel Ridge Road, saw 13 couples renew their vows in front of family and friends with special music by Sharyn Thompkins.

Wedding cake and ice cream was served after the service.

The church on July 6 celebrated New Membership Sunday with nine new members received.

Italian Sunday will be celebrated Sunday with a speaker from New Castle. Dan Natale will minister in word and music, giving his testimony and playing the harmonica. A spaghetti lunch will follow.
