Gary R. Burnworth

Ex-director of ambulance services served in church

---- — On Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, Gary R. Burnworth of Sandy Lake, formerly of Moon Township, Allegheny County, was taken home by his Savior, Jesus.

He is survived by his beloved wife and constant companion of 40 years, Karen Mander-Burnworth.

Also surviving are his beloved daughter, Kimberly Walker-Goncalves and Zan, and much loved grandchildren, M. Stefan Walker and Serafina Walker, both Greenfield, Mass.; daughter, Lise Daniels; and grandchildren, Gareth Solbeck, Eira Solbeck and Rayna Solbeck, all New Hampshire. He is also survived by and well loved by his mother-in-law, Irene T. Mander, Sandy Lake; sister-in-law, Lisa Mander-Heisler; and brother-in-law, Robert J. Heisler Jr., Moon Township.

Gary was a son of Charles R. Burnworth, who is now deceased; and Hazel M. Burnworth, Houston, Texas.

His siblings are Christopher Burnworth, husband of Susan, Saucier, Miss.; Charlotte, wife of Rob McQuown; and Sara Sue Jones, both Houston; Cynthia, wife of Bob Hillock, Grand Island, N.Y.; and Dorris Y. Burnworth, Houston.

He is also survived by nephews and nieces, Walter, Karen, Chelsea and Michael Hillock, all New York; Jennifer Jones Slamin, Maine; Kerry and Michael McQuown; and Kim Dunaway, all Houston; and many cousins.

Gary was also very loved by the entire Resch and Mander family and will be deeply missed.

He was the former director of Valley Ambulance and Quaker Valley Ambulance services.

Gary was a wonderful and much loved man. With his wife, Karen, he was an active member of New Lebanon Community Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to New Lebanon Community Church “Burnworth Ministry Center” Building Fund, in care of New Lebanon Community Church, 4166 Mercer St., Sandy Lake, PA 16145.

Service: Everyone is invited to attend a memorial service at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, in New Lebanon Community Church, Sandy Lake.
