Funeral services will be Tuesday for Ka’Sandra Marie Wade, Pittsburgh, formerly of Farrell, who departed her life unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. She was 33.
Ka’Sandra was born July 13, 1979 to Sharon Jordan and Raymond Johnson, but raised by Calvin Wade, whom she loved dearly and called dad. Growing up in Farrell, Sandy, as those closest to her called her, made numerous friends.
She was a member of the Farrell Golden Girls during her junior and senior years. Graduating from Farrell High School in 1997, Sandy was a bright and intelligent young woman who was determined to start her new life and career.
She moved to Pittsburgh to attend Community College of Allegheny County and Job Corps. In 2002 she was blessed with a son whom she named Zaire Louis Brown.
As a well-educated single mother, and knowing she had her own special someone looking up to her, Sandy was determined to become the best, to become successful.
She started working at Giant Eagle where employees and regular customers fell in love with her. She was smart, loving and caring toward her peers and customers.
After about five years, Sandy enrolled in Kaplan Career Institute and received her associate’s degree in accounts management.
She worked as a part-time intern at Action United for nine months and, with her son, formed a family-like bond with co-workers.
Some say she was a worker who always made people smile, made sure her job was done to the best of her ability and was a loving and fun person to be around.
Sandy began taking classes at Devry University to receive her bachelor’s degree.
Sandy’s work performance convinced Action United to hire her as a full-time administrative assistant/office manager. The position, which would give her leadership over her own work team, was set to start on Jan. 2.
As the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 9:11-12, “I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor the wise also have food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor, because time and unforeseen occurrences befall us all. For man also does not know his time. Just like fishes that are being taken in an evil net, and like birds that are being taken in a trap, so the sons of men themselves are being ensnared at a calamitous time, when it falls upon them suddenly.”
Ka’Sandra was preceded in death by her biological father, Raymond Johnson, her father, Calvin Wade Sr.; a brother, Calvin Wade Jr.; a grandmother, Rose Marie “Sis” Lampkins; and a grandfather, Leonard Samuels Sr.
She is survived by her mother, Sharon Wade; her son, Zaire Louis Brown and his sister, Cassandra Grey; two sisters, Shalana Wade, Farrell, and Lovery Wade, Pittsburgh; a brother, Daniel Ike Wade and his companion, Christina Perry, Pittsburgh; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the family at PNCBank.
