Ruth Elizabeth Ketler of New Wilmington passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in The Overlook Nursing Home, New Wilmington. She was 96.
Mrs. Ketler was born July 25, 1916, in New Wilmington to Domer and Alice Gibson Heckathorn.
She was a 1935 graduate of Union High School, New Castle.
She worked at the former Shenango Pottery in New Castle and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Ketler was a lifelong member of New Wilmington United Methodist Church.
She was a 40-year member of both the Girl Scout Council and the Wilmington Grange. She also belonged to the Mendetts card club of New Castle and the Late Eights card club of New Wilmington. She was a 50-year member of the Harvesters Club.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Daniel Weyrick, Frederick Foster, then George Ketler, the latter of whom died in 2010.
Mrs. Ketler is survived by her children, Diana Magee and her husband George Edward, Volant; Merry Lee George and her husband Leslie, Sun City West, Ariz.; Barbara Ryhal and her husband Jim, Hubbard; Dale Foster and his former wife Sandra, Slippery Rock; Richard Ketler, Discovery Bay, Calif.; Letty Hanzlik and her husband John, Newark, Del.; and Perry Ketler and his wife Cheryl, West Middlesex.
Also surviving are a brother, Ronald Heckathorn and his wife Marilyn, New Wilmington; and 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her three husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Phillip Weyrick and Keith Foster; a brother, Jim Heckathorn; and three sisters, Jessie Brenner, Marian Thorne and Marie Gilbert.

Service: Funeral service at 5 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Patricia Harbison, pastor of New Wilmington United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment: Will follow.
