Shirley Mae Telesz of Young Road, Volant, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. She was 77.
Mrs. Telesz was born April 1, 1935, in Volant to Elmer and Ethel Black.
Shirley was a wonderful homemaker. After her family was raised, she worked at Sara Boyle Candies in Volant.
She enjoyed painting ceramics, but her grandchildren were most important to her. Shirley enjoyed helping them learn new spelling words and loved attending their ballgames and dance recitals.
She enjoyed Lawrence County 4-H events and attended St. Mary’s Church, New Castle.
She married Frank Edward Telesz Sr. on Sept. 25, 1954.
Survivors include: her husband, Frank, of the residence; two daughters, Connie Kirker and her husband Pastor Bill Kirker, Volant; and Chris Siddall and her husband Marvin, Acworth, Ga.; three sons, Richard “Rick” Telesz and his wife Terry; and Frank Telesz and his wife Kim, all Volant; and Ronald Telesz and his wife Beth, New Castle.
She also leaves nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Helen Wimer, Lucille Cameron, Bernie McFarland and Ann Black; and three brothers, Francis, Robert and Dale Black.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lawrence County 4-H Development Fund, Court Street (Court House), New Castle, PA 16101.

Service: Private family services at 1 p.m. Thursday (3-21-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME OF LEESBURG, 1778 Perry Highway, Springfield Township, with the Rev. William Kirker and the Rev. Robert E. Cypher officiating.
Interment: Will follow at Volant Cemetery.
