---- —
HOWLAND, Ohio – Genevieve Marie “Jean” Konchinsky Persin, Bazetta Township, Trumbull County, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 13, 2013, in Howland. She was 92.
Mrs. Persin was born Sept. 4, 1920, in Sharon, the youngest of eight children of the late Adam and Victoria Maczkowska Konchinsky.
Jean was a 1938 graduate of Sharon High School.
After graduation, she worked as a domestic and took a few business classes. Through the years, Jean worked at the Ravenna Arsenal in Portage County; for Sunlight Electric Co. (Packard Electric Division) and Nationwide Insurance Co., both Warren, Ohio; and retired from Wean Manufacturing and Engineering as a statistical secretary.
On Oct. 5, 1940, Jean married Rudolph “Rudy” Persin and moved to Warren. During their married life together, they lived in Corpus Christie, Texas; Phoenix; Vienna, Howland and Warren, all Ohio, and finally in their latter years in Bazetta Township next door to their son, Bruce.
Jean was a member of the Warren Women’s Christian Association and a devoted member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, where she belonged to the Nelle Smith Women’s Guild and served as a deacon. In addition, Jean attended Tri Sigma and Second Mile Sunday school classes and Prime Time there. In her day, Jean served as a den mother for her son’s Cub Scout group and volunteered in many of the church’s vacation Bible school activities.
Jean celebrated being married to Rudolph Persin for 70 years in 2010. Together they had three children. Rudy and Jean tried their best to instill character, values and integrity in their children and led by example.
Jean is remembered by friends and family as a friendly, cheerful and gentle spirit. Throughout her life, Jean enjoyed her home, crafts, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, bowling, dancing, gardening and traveling all over the United States with her husband, Rudy. Most of all, Jean cherished her time with her family.
She will be held in memory by those she loved and those who loved her.
Jean is survived by: a son, Bruce E. Persin and his wife Marie, Bazetta; a daughter, Sally Jo Persin, Sharon; five grandchildren, Jessica and her husband William Art Kenney, Spotsylvania, Va.; Brittany Pemberton, Alexandria, Va.; Stephanie and her husband Jason Uber, Boardman, Ohio; Katelyn and her husband Craig Howell, Newton Falls, Ohio; and Nathaniel Persin, Streetsboro, Ohio; and four great-grandsons, Liam and Charlie Kenney; and Seth and Tobin Howell.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph; a son, James; two sisters, Wanda Konchinsky and Adeline McIlvain; and five brothers, Joseph, Edward, Mitchell, Chester and Stanley Konnen.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 119 Laird Ave. N.E., Warren, OH 44483.
