A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday for Mary Elizabeth Harkless of O’Brien Memorial Nursing Home, Masury. She passed away peacefully at 5:25 p.m. Monday (3-11-12) in the care center of natural causes. She was 86.
Mrs. Harkless was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Sharon, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Frank Micko.
A lifelong area resident, she attended Brookfield schools.
Mrs. Harkless retired from Delphi Packard Electric Systems, Warren, Ohio, where she was employed for 25 years as an assembler. While working at Packard, she belonged to Local 717 of International Union of Electrical Workers.
Mary was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, St. Bernadette’s Church, Masury.
She enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a member of AARP.
Her husband, James William Harkless, whom she married June 9, 1943, passed away June 6, 1983.
She is survived by: a daughter, Patricia Louise Spencer and her husband Fred, New Castle; a sister, Eleanor Pennington, Hermosa Beach, Calif.; a brother, Simon Micko, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Leona Micko, Chicago; three grandchildren, Frederick Spencer Jr. and his wife Lisa; James W. Spencer and his wife Heather; and Stephanie M. Wilson and her husband Douglass; eight great-grandchildren, Isabella, Richard, James, Anthony, Nathan and Noah Spencer; Mackenzie Gould; and Tyler Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Florence Yazvac, Rose LeDonne, Genevieve Sebastian and Josephine Jacon; and two brothers, an infant, Vincent Micko; and another brother, also named Vincent Micko.
Her family suggests that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in her memory to consider the First Tee Program in care of Buhl Farm Park, 715 Hazen Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.

Zanni, pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle, St. Vincent de Paul Church, Vienna, as celebrant. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Saturday for the church.
