A memorial service will be held Saturday for Agnes V. Engle of Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township, formerly of Carrie Way, Grove City. She died at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday (3-6-13) in Visiting Nurses Association Inpatient Unit, Grove City. She was 93.
As a lifelong resident of Grove City, Mrs. Engle was born Oct. 7, 1919, in Grove City, a daughter of Cameron “Pat” Wiseman and Harriett Pizor Wiseman.
Agnes was in the retail business for 28 years as a partner in JA-Dee Dress Shop and manager for 11 years at Creighton Dress Shop, both formerly in Grove City. She loved working with the public and missed it following her retirement.
She was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City.
Agnes was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and the retail merchants group, both Grove City. She was a board member of Grove City Chamber of Commerce and a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 86, Grove City.
Agnes enjoyed knitting, donating many newborn hats to missions. She enjoyed playing bridge at different clubs in the area, meeting old classmates for luncheons and attending her church when she was able.
Surviving are a son-in-law, Gene McBride; a grandson, Gary McBride and his wife Teresa; a great-granddaughter, Brandi McBride, all Kent, Ohio; and a cousin, Marjorie Pizor, Boulder, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Brenda McBride, in 2012; and two grandsons, Terry and Greg McBride.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Engle’s memory to East Main Presbyterian Church, 120 E. Main St., Grove City, PA 16127.
