Edward B. Krochka of 144 Flowers Ave., Sharon, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon (3-17-13) in his residence after an apparent heart attack. He was 86.
Mr. Krochka was born March 19, 1926, in Sharon, a son of Libor and Rose Piacheck Krochka.
He attended school at the former St. Ann’s parochial schools and later graduated in 1944 from Sharon High School.
Ed was a devout Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann’s Parish, Farrell, where he attended daily Mass.
A florist by trade, Ed owned and operated the former Avenue Flower Shop on Sharpsville Avenue in Sharon. After retirement, he did part-time floral design for Gibbs Flower Shop in Farrell and Palo Flowers in Sharpsville. Recently, Ed had been employed as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Hermitage.
Always active in music circles, he sang in the church choir; was a former member of Sharon Music Club; and formerly sang with the Shenango Valley Chorale.
He was also a member and past president of the church’s Bethany Club.
Ed was a proud World War II Air Force veteran, having served in India.
He is survived by his brother, John M. Krochka and his wife Grace, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Caroline I. Krochka, Sharon; and Marjorie Krochka, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Catherine LaMachia and Mary Ann Barron; and brothers, Albert A. and Joseph L. Krochka.

Service: Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Friday (3-22-13) in Our Lady of Fatima-St. Ann’s Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant.
Calling hours: No visitation hours observed. Everyone is welcome and invited to Mass. Go directly to the church.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage. Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage.
