HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. – Michele Duane Ampy, formerly of Farrell, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012, in Duke Hospice at the Meadowlands, Hillsborough. He was 62.
Mr. Ampy was born Dec. 21, 1949, in Buffalo, N.Y.
He was a young volunteer at Bethel, the World Headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brooklyn N.Y., where he was privileged to serve for 5è years. The last couple of years he served as an overseer of the bindery. He traveled extensively in his ministry.
Mr. Ampy was employed at Berenfield Industries in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Carrboro, N.C., where he was the IT Systems manager. Prior to that, he was employed at U.S. Steel in Masury, where he was the plant’s general manager.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Ampy, Sharon; a sister, Shirley and her husband José L. Mundy Sr., West Middlesex; his aunts, Dr. Martha Bruce, Sharon; and Gertrude Sain, Cleveland; his uncles, Herbert Ampy, Buffalo; and Thomas Ampy, Virginia; nieces, Erin Michelle Lee, Sharon; Tamara Keller, Farrell; and Erika Cleveland, Sharon; nephews, José Mundy Jr., Sharon; Jonathan Mundy and his wife Denise, Minnesota; and Albert Mundy, Philadelphia; and a host of great-nieces and -nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Leroy Ampy; and sister, Martha Lee.
Family will receive friends from noon to time of service Sunday, July 22 in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hann Hill Road, Hermitage, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. with Brother Sidney McDonald Sr. conducting the services. Closing prayer by Mike Husk.
