Lois J. Heister

Ex-Stoneboro homemaker enjoyed cooking, baking

---- — A funeral service will be held Wednesday for Lois J. Heister, 78, formerly of Stoneboro. She passed away peacefully after an extended illness at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, in Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Grove City.

Born March 23, 1934, in Karns City (Butler County), she was a daughter of Lawrence F. and Mabel Hulda Lowers Shepard.

Lois attended school in Jackson Center and she was of the Protestant faith.

As a homemaker she enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Her husband, Wayne E. Heister, whom she married Jan. 5, 1959, preceded her in death Feb. 23, 1997.

She is survived by four daughters, Teresa J. Canter, Jackson Center; Marsha L. Green and her husband Stephen, Butler; Laurie M. Philson and her husband Dean, Stoneboro; and Hulda M. Heister and her companion Darren S. Hittle, Mercer; one son, John W. Heister and his wife Charlene Mae, West Middlesex; five grandchildren, Nikki Heister, Stoneboro; Ashlee Green, Pittsburgh; Dalton Canter, Jackson Center; Kara Sue Heister, West Middlesex; and Christina M. Heister, Mercer; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Walker Guthrie and Garet Wayne Guthrie; a sister, Betty M. Lias, East Brady; and a brother Robert G. Shepard, Stoneboro.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four grandchildren, Tyler William and Taylor Wayne, Jagre Lee and Dakota Jordan Heister; two sisters, Rosie Roudebush and Beatrice Coast; and two brothers, Richard and Johnny Shepard.

Calling hours: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (8-7-12) and 10 a.m. to time of service Wednesday (8-8-12) in SCOTT A. BLACK FUNERAL HOME, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.

Service: Funeral and committal service at 11 a.m. Wednesday  in the funeral home with Pastor Ronald E. Roudebush, Church of God Prophecy, Karns City, and nephew of decedent, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Stephanie D. Thompson, chaplain, Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Grove City.

Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.
