A funeral service will be held Thursday for Ruth E. Coulson of Pine Township (Grove City). She passed away at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a three-week illness. She was 92.
Mrs. Coulson was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Pine Township to Charles Rankin Walter and Winifred McBride Walter.
A homemaker, Ruth was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed playing cards and bingo, traveling and spending time with her family.
Her husband, Charles Clifford Coulson, whom she married Sept. 20, 1941, passed away Nov. 1, 1995.
Surviving are: four children, Maxwell L. Coulson and his wife Maria, Oxnard, Calif.; Charles C. Coulson and his wife Penny, Grove City; Doris J. Filer and her husband David J., Stoneboro; and Sally A. Alfreno and her husband Terry L., Grove City; 11 grandchildren, Charles L. Coulson, Jane E. McArthur, Maxwell L. Coulson Jr., Leslie L. Salazar and Amanda A. Coulson, all Oxnard; Carrie Mae Kimes and Adam L. Coulson, both Grove City; John D. Filer, Stoneboro; Greg A. Filer, Grove City; Chadwick R. Miller, Pittsburgh; and Randall L. Miller, Butler; 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean E. Walter, Grove City.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Francis Marion “Pete” Walter, Clyde O. and William E. Walter; and David E. Walter; and two sisters, Florence L. Montgomery and Pauline C. Phipps.
