Michael J. Komisin of Sharon passed away at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 64.
Mr. Komisin was born Oct. 5, 1948, in Sharpsville to Michael and Anna P. Homsey Komisin.
He graduated from Sharpsville High School.
Michael worked as a letter carrier for U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, from which he retired.
He was a member of the 11th Cavalry in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict.
Michael was a family man.
He donated throughout his life to the American Indian Lakota Tribe and enjoyed the history and archeology of American Indian tribes.
Michael is survived by his former wife, Lola Mason, Pittsburgh; daughter, Kelly D. and her husband Eric Nelson, Wrightwood, Calif.; son, Michael C. Komisin, Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Natalie Wojtkiewicz, Ellwood City; and two grandchildren, Sunshine Nelson and Sky Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Komisin; and mother, Anna P. Komisin.
