Andrew Carpec

Wheatland Tube retiree was Army veteran

Andrew Carpec, Carpec Lane, West Middlesex, went peacefully to be with the Lord at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday (3-12-13) with his two daughters at his side. He was 82.

Mr. Carpec was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Portage, Cambria County, Pa., a son of Peter and Julia Carpec.

He was retired from Wheatland Tube Co.

He was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex.

Mr. Carpec enjoyed farming, gardening, woodworking, hunting and his dogs. He loved to polka and enjoyed dancing at the former Idora Park in Youngstown.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict in Germany and was a lifelong member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6233, West Middlesex.

He was devoted to his family, enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family.

Surviving are: two daughters, Ethel Marie Matteo and her husband Richard, Hermitage; and Betty Lou Aiken and her husband Wesley, West Middlesex; seven sons, Stephen P. Carpec, Hermitage; Andrew “Cook” Carpec and his wife Patti, Sharon; Michael J. Carpec and his fiancée Sheri, Paul Carpec and his fiancée Teri, Joseph “Joe” Carpec and his wife Linda, John “Cowboy” Carpec and his wife Angela, all West Middlesex; and James Carpec and his wife Maureen, St. Petersburg, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ethel Marie Durdon Carpec, whom he married April 23, 1956, and who died June 19, 2005; a son, William Carpec; five sisters, Mary, Anne, Helen, Kaye and Sue; and three brothers, Mike, Peter and Nick.

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday (3-14-13) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 3126 Main St., West Middlesex.

Service: 10 a.m. Friday (3-15-13) in Church of the Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Road, West Middlesex, with Monsignor Robert Malene, pastor, officiating.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage, with full military honors.
