Anna E. Sharley, a resident of Juniper Village at the Shenango Inn, Sharon, passed peacefully from this life with her daughter at her side at 10:42 a.m. Wednesday (3-13-13) in her residence. She had formerly lived at Whispering Oaks, Hermitage, and Stambaugh Avenue, Sharon. She was 96.
Mrs. Sharley was born Aug. 11, 1916, in Farrell to Frank and Esther Szambo Babos.
She attended Sharon schools.
Anna was a nurse’s aide for Sharon Regional Health System, retiring in 1978 following 20 years of service.
She was a member of St. Adalbert’s Church in Farrell. As a past member of the former Holy Trinity Church, also in Farrell, she belonged to the Mother’s Club.
She enjoyed reading, walking and sewing.
Her husband, Joseph J. Sharley, whom she married Feb. 9, 1935, preceded her in death Dec. 26, 1982.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy and her husband Edward Gladysz, Brookfield; two sons, Joseph Sharley and his wife Thelma, Orlando, Fla.; and James Sharley and his wife Betsy, Morgantown, W.Va.; a brother, F. George Babos and his wife Rae, Austintown, Ohio; and six grandchildren, Joseph Sharley and his wife Kris, Deborah Guerrera, Scott Gladysz and his wife Paula, Gary Gladysz and his wife April, Michael Sharley, and Susan Satterfield and her husband Stephen. Her great-grandchildren are Rachael and Nathan Sharley, Amelia and Claire Gladysz and Caleb and Sadie Satterfield.
Besides her husband, Anna was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Julia Horgan, Margaret Horvath and Irene Babos; a brother, Alexander Babos, who was killed in action in World War II; a grandson, David Sharley; and a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Sharley.
