Richard ‘Dick’ L. Perkins

National Fuel Gas retiree was ham radio operator

---- — Richard “Dick” L. Perkins of 11 Shady Ave., Greenville, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday morning, March 19, 2013, in his residence. He was 77.

Mr. Perkins was born Sept. 27, 1935, in Greenville to Homer G. and Nina C. Cole Perkins.

He was a 1954 graduate of the former Penn High School, Greenville, and served in the Army Reserves.

Dick worked for National Fuel Gas Co. and retired after 41 years.

He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 145, Greenville; and was a member and treasurer of Greenville Photography Club. He was a ham radio operator for the U.S. Army Military Auxiliary Radio System.

Dick was involved in his grandchildren’s sports and activities.  He also enjoyed his ’94 Chevy Truck and taking it to car shows.

Dick is survived by his wife, at home, the former Dorotha “Dottie” L. Brown, whom he married Sept. 16, 1961.

He also leaves a daughter, Debra L. Maietta and her husband Michael; a son, Kevin E. Perkins and his wife Tina; a brother, Bruce E. Perkins and his wife Georgia; and four grandchildren, Richard E. Perkins, Randall L. Perkins, Nathan C. Maietta and Natalie A. Maietta, all Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Homer Guy Perkins Jr.; and two sisters, Virginia Peterson and Naomi Henry.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
