Gail A. Podolan of 779 Dutch Lane, Hermitage, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her daughters, at 12:11 a.m. Friday (2-10-12) in her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 54.
Mrs. Podolan was born March 21, 1957, in Sharon, a daughter of Francis and Helen Nord Young.
A lifelong area resident, she graduated from West Middlesex High School in 1975.
She was a homemaker and had worked for The Herald newspaper in Sharon and the former Little Italy Restaurant, Hermitage.
Gail was a member of St. Anthony’s Church, Sharon.
She enjoyed reading, playing card games, taking long walks, baking and, most of all, spending time with her four daughters.
She is survived by: her parents, Francis and Helen Young, Mercer; four daughters, Rebecca K. Podolan and her fiancé Keith A. Donner, Sharpsville; Annette F. Podolan-Berndt, Mercer; and Sarah E. Podolan and Erin M. Podolan, both Hermitage; her husband, Joseph A. Podolan; four sisters, Patricia R. Young, Mercer; Joyce E. Young, New Wilmington; Donna J. Marcella and her husband Ronald, Mercer; and Vickie L. Shea and her husband Richard, Dallas, Texas; and four brothers, Kenneth F. Young, Los Angeles; Keith E. Young, West Middlesex; Fred A. Young and his companion Andrea, Greenville; and Doug E. Young, Mercer.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nicole.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her family to help defray funeral costs.
