Erma Gill Stark of Mercer-West Middlesex Road, Shenango Township, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, in her residence. She was 86.
Born Nov. 28, 1925, in West Middlesex Borough, Mrs. Stark was a daughter of Madison William Gill and Rachel Powell Gill.
She married John Harold Stark on June 30, 1962.
Mrs. Stark was a member of West Middlesex United Methodist Church, where she served for many years as the church treasurer. She was also a member and past president of the R.W.A (Ready, Willing and Able) organization within the church.
She belonged to Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War for more than 60 years and served the organization in many statewide offices including three terms as president.
She is survived by a sister, Donna Yarletts and her husband James, West Middlesex; two stepgrandsons, John Callaghan, Yardley, Pa.; and David Callaghan, Alabama; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Andrew and Quinn Callaghan; and several nieces and nephews.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Alice Thompson; and a stepdaughter, Marian Callaghan.

Calling hours: Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday (2-12-12) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 3126 Main St., West Middlesex.
Service: Funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Monday (2-13-12) in the funeral home with the Rev. Sung Shik Chung, pastor of West Middlesex United Methodist Church, presiding.
Interment: Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex.
