Mary Edith Topper of Greenville, formerly of Hermitage and New Castle, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, in the Villas at St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township, after a brief illness. She was 83 years old.
Mrs. Topper was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, to her parents, Lyman and Florence Kollie Bowerman.
In 1944, she graduated from Ashtabula (Ohio) High School and on Sept. 4, 1946, married her husband, James Topper, who preceded her in death Oct. 22, 2009.
Mrs. Topper was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Sharon, the Hermitage Woman’s Club, Prospect Heights Club and the former Sharon Country Club.
Mrs. Topper is survived by: two children, Rebecca Feigert and her husband Earl, Hermitage; and James L. Topper and his wife Patricia, North Canton, Ohio; two brothers, Robert Bowerman and his wife Betty, Painesville, Ohio; and Kenneth Bowerman, Victorville, Calif.; a sister, Janet Bowerman, also Victorville; a brother-in-law, Thomas Topper and his wife Barbara, West Middlesex; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Leslie Norton; and a sister, Anna Mae Stepien.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Glenn M. Hink, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Sharon, officiating.
Burial: Cremation will follow.
