Elizabeth A. “Betty” Johnston, formerly of Tushim Manor, Mercer; and Allegheny County, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Sunday (7-25-10) in St. Paul’s, West Salem Township, after an extended illness. She was 83.
Born on Dec. 18, 1926, in Allegheny County, Mrs. Johnston was a daughter of John P. and Anna Dubovi Balucha.
She was a graduate of Har-Brack High School of Natrona Heights, Pa.
As a homemaker, Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and had a reputation as a great baker. She loved animals, especially her dogs.
Betty was of the Catholic faith, loved music and enjoyed singing.
Her husband, Samuel J. Johnston, whom she married in 1947, preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1978.
Surviving are: a daughter, Sharon Minarik and her husband David M. Minarik Sr., Mercer; a son, Gary J. Johnston, Natrona Heights; a grandson, David M. Minarik Jr. and his wife Marsha, Mercer; a great-grandson, Noah Minarik, Mercer; and three sisters, Gloria Orris and her husband James, Natrona Heights; Evelyn Turner, Pittsburgh; and Jody Silliman, Natrona Heights.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Douglas J. Minarik.
