ATLANTA -- Mattie M. Harden Moon of Atlanta, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012. She was 66.
Ms. Moon was born July 17, 1945, in Farrell to Richard Henry Harden Sr. and Lillie Mae Page Harden.
She graduated from Farrell High School in June 1963 and entered the U.S. Air Force in August 1963.
When she left the Air Force in 1971, Mattie made her home in Atlanta and worked for Greyhound Bus Lines and Delta Airlines. She retired from Delta in 2002.
Mattie was a number of West Oakland Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta. She had very generous spirit and gave to numerous charitable organizations.
She was preceded to death by her father; two sisters, Rachel Louise Harden and Maxine Baker; and her first husband, Calvin Hill.
She is survived by: her mother; five sisters, Ernestine Chapman, Nashville, Tenn.; Lillie Mae Paige, Wheatland; Vernell and her husband Richard Moncrief, Youngstown; Laura Ann and her husband Malvin Brewer, Georgiana, Ala.; and Roberta Hardin, Bellefonte, Pa.; four brothers, Samuel James Crosby, South Beloit, Ill.; Richard Henry Harden Jr., Farrell; Robin Lee Harden, Elkhardt, Ind.; and Walter Wendell Harden, Huachuca City, Ariz.; three godchildren, Cheryl Singleton, Peter X. Hayes and Joseph Johnson Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, in Valley Baptist Church, 500 Sharon-New Castle Road, Farrell. Family and friends will meet in the home of her niece, Clarissa “Cissy” Harden and fiancé Danny, 1318 Roemer Blvd., Farrell. Cissy will take calls at 724-734-0640.
