APOLLO, Pa. – Helen M. Pelchar Moonis of Apollo, formerly of Masury, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 16, 2013, in RNC of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg. She was 89.
Helen was born Jan. 1, 1924, in Waterman, Pa., a daughter of Samuel and Anna Kutlar Pelchar.
Helen was a homemaker as well as a part-time employee of the former Valley View Department Store, Brookfield.
She was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, and more recently belonged to St. James Catholic Church, Apollo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 55 years, George Moonis; and brothers, Michael and Thomas Pelchar.
Helen will be dearly missed and is survived by: her loving children, Georgia Moonis, Lutherville. Md.; Teresa Blackburn, Davenport, Iowa; and Anthony T. Moonis and his wife Jennie, Falls Church, Va.; her brother and sisters, Bertha Prymak, Clarksburg, Pa.; Samuel Pelchar, Columbus, Ga.; Elizabeth O’Bradovich, Saltsburg, Pa.; and Frances Grevish, Greensburg; six grandchildren, Jason, Matthew, Elizabeth, Nathaniel, Margaret and Eliza; seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Logan, Ian, Adrionna, Riley, Christopher and Kyle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Interment: Will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
