A funeral and committal service will be held Thursday for Jacqueline “Jackie” A. Smith of Hempfield Township. She passed away at 9:56 a.m. Sunday (9-9-12) in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township. She was 84.
Ms. Smith was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Savannah, Ga., to Luther and Florence Bond Bankston.
She was a 1945 graduate of Jefferson (Ohio) High School.
Jackie worked for more than 30 years in Greenville as a legal secretary for the law firm of Rowley, Wallace, Keck, Karson and St. John.
She was a member of Crossroads Christian Fellowship, West Salem Township.
Jackie enjoyed bowling, reading, watching TV and taking trips to the casino with her daughters.
Surviving are two daughters, Janice Curry and her husband Gary, Grove City; and Sandra Cheuka and her husband Thomas, Greenville; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Pamela Simmons and an infant; two sisters, Virginia Brezee and Dorothy Curran; and a brother, Harold Bankston.
