Police charge man with stabbing brother

SHARON — A man is in jail for allegedly stabbing his brother in an argument over money early Thursday in Sharon.

Police said Brett Budetich, 25, of 532 Erie St., Sharon, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and terroristic threats after he stabbed his 20-year-old brother whom police did not identify by name.

Police were called at 1 a.m. to the emergency room at UPMC Horizon, Farrell, because the man went there with eight stab wounds to his arms and torso.

The victim initially told police he was robbed and stabbed by strangers but further investigation showed the brothers had gotten into a fight and the older one stabbed the other one with a large hunting knife at their home.

Police said the victim had slash-type wounds that did not appear to be life-threatening.

Budetich was arrested about 9:30 a.m. Thursday at home without incident. He was arraigned by District Judge Dennis M. Songer and taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post bond.
