Truck Night duty keeps police busy

YANKEE LAKE — The calls Brookfield police detective Peter Gibb gets on Friday nights as he works security at Yankee Lake Truck Night range from the serious to the mundane.

On a recent Friday, Gibb has to: help get a 13-year -old who hit his head on a truck’s roll cage to the paramedics, bring a wrist band that indicates drinking age to a man who didn’t get one at the door, shuttle the fire chief to inspect fireworks, and remind a family that intends to tailgate before entering the grounds that they can’t.

“It’s mostly drama,” Gibb said.
