SHARON —
A Sharon man is in jail and a Brookfield man is in the hospital after the men fought over a woman and one shot the other at a West Hill bar early Sunday morning, authorities said.
Brookfield Police Chief Dan Faustino said Bryan Bacon, 39, Brookfield, was shot in his right leg after the fight, which ended at 3:07 a.m. Sunday.
Bacon and Raymond L. Diefenderfer, 32, Sharon, were fighting inside Club Topsy, 8246 Lorain St., Masury, over Diefenderfer’s girlfriend.
The fight escalated and the men took it outside, where Faustino said Diefenderfer pulled out a .45 caliber handgun and shot Bacon in the leg, then left the scene.
Police were alerted to the fight at 3:07 a.m. and arrived to find Bacon on the floor inside the bar and Diefenderfer nowhere to be found, Faustino said.
Diefenderfer later turned himself in to police. He was charged with felonious assault and taken to Trumbull County Jail in lieu of an initial court appearance, Faustino said.
