Sharon man pleads guilty to shooting in Hermitage

HERMITAGE — A Sharon man pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of aggravated assault for shooting a man four times more than a year ago at a Hermitage apartment complex.

Alfred L. Taylor, 41, formerly of Cedar Avenue, shot Wade Shaw in the hip and back Jan. 17, 2012, in the 1400 block of Bolde Drive.

Prosecutors withdrew charges of attempted homicide and attempted third-degree murder, and decided not to pursue charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, prohibited possession of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license and reckless endangerment.

Shaw testified in April at Taylor’s preliminary hearing that a woman he knew named Joni called him and asked to borrow money. When Joni’s car pulled up, Taylor was driving. Taylor did not respond when Shaw asked where Joni was, and Shaw started to walk away.

Shaw said he saw Taylor’s arm raise and the flashes of the bullets firing. Shawn testified that he knew Taylor to see him, but had not had problems with him before.
