MERCER COUNTY — Be on your guard. There’s been an uptick in daytime burglaries in Mercer County, particularly in Findley, Jackson, Worth, and Wolf Creek townships, state police say.
The burglars target homes that look empty and start by knocking on the door, police said, adding that if someone answers the door, they give various excuses and leave quickly.
If the home is empty, police said, they force their way in.
Police advise residents to lock all their doors and windows when they leave home. Anyone who notices anything suspicious should call state police (724-662-6162) or their local police and report it, they said.
Vehicles with Ohio tags are possibly involved in the break-ins, police said.
