BROOKFIELD — A Hermitage man was scheduled to be arraigned today in Trumbull County Eastern District Court after allegedly trying to sell a gun in a Masury bar on Nov. 7.
Brookfield police said Brian Lenard Bakunas, 51, of 5700 Wise Road, had been in a Standard Avenue bar trying to sell a gun and was driving to another after drinking several beers.
A patrolman spotted the red truck Bakunas was reported to be driving after it ran a stop sign and pulled into the parking lot of another Standard Avenue bar, police said.
When asked if he had a gun, Bakunas told police he had one in the waistband of his jeans that he wanted to sell, police said. Police searched him and found a loaded Beretta 9-mm semi-automatic pistol.
Bakunas was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, having a firearm inside a liquor establishment, using a weapon while intoxicated and running a red light, police said. He was taken to Trumbull County Jail.
Brookfield Police Chief Dan Faustino said it was not immediately clear if Bakunas was the weapon’s registered owner.
