HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP — A Hempfield Township man has been creating and passing counterfeit bills in August and September at township businesses, police said.
Geno Marini, 48, of 9th Avenue, is charged with three counts of forgery, two counts of possessing instruments of crime, theft by deception and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Police said Marini approached a woman about 3:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at a Williamson Road business and asked to trade four $10 bills for two $20. After the exchange, the woman discovered the bills were fake, police said.
Marini also passed two counterfeit $20 bills at a Hadley Road business on Aug. 14 and 22, police said.
Police seized a printer and computer from Marini�s home and found files on how to counterfeit and copies of bills on the computer with the same serial number as the ones in the investigation, police said.
They also found more fake bills and heroin-related drug paraphernalia at the home, police said.
