UPDATE: Robbery suspect sought in fatal drug deal probe

SHENANGO VALLEY — Sharon police are looking for a man wanted for robbery in connection with the shooting death of John B. Hosey III on Nov. 6 in Sharon.

Police have charged Toney A. Bonner II, 20, of Sharon, with robbery for his role in the drug deal turned robbery that led to the exchange of gunfire that killed Hosey.

Bonner is one of eight people who have been charged with crimes related to the homicide. So far, no one has been charged with firing the shot that killed Hosey.

Earlier this year, Bonner pleaded guilty to terroristic threats in connection with gunfire July 20, 2008, at Baldwin Avenue and Plum Street that police said was the result of a beef between rival gang members.

Bonner was one of four men wearing red bandannas over their faces that approached a group of teens playing basketball when Jacquaze Q. “Chaos” Jones of Middletown, Ohio, fired shots. Jones was sentenced to 18 months to five years in prison for the shooting.

Bonner was sentenced to 18 months probation in that case after being paroled for time served in jail, court documents said.

Also charged with robbery in the case are Rashod M. Brown, 30, of Warren, Ohio, Raymond L. Raver Sr., 27, of 813 Spearman Ave., Farrell and Terry J. Greene, 28, of 833 Wallis Ave., who is Hosey’s brother.

Those three men, Bonner and Hosey surrounded a van driven by Ashley McNulty of West Middlesex, that was parked outside Greene’s home to conduct a drug deal.

Mrs. McNulty, 20, and her husband Mark McNulty, 21, suffered superficial gunshot wounds.

Two other men in the van, Christopher L. Swogger, 22, of 364 Ellsworth St., Sharon, and John Dunder, 21, of 100 Ridge Ave., Apartment 6, Sharpsville, were charged with drug conspiracy, as was Alexander Lee, 28, of 26 Shenango Blvd., Farrell, who set up the deal and helped plan the robbery.

Bryan A. Hall, 22, of 818 New Castle Ave., is charged with tampering with evidence and loitering and prowling at night for knocking a garbage toter over onto the shotgun police believe Brown fired at the van.

Brown was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $150,000 bond. Raver was taken to the jail after failing to post $30,000 bond.

Swogger, Dunder, Lee and McNulty were also taken to the jail after failing to post bond or on parole detainers.
