UPDATE: Man shot in leg by home invader, police say

By Courtney L. Anderson

SHARON — A Sharon man was shot in the leg Thursday night after a man barged into his apartment, police said.

Police said David Matlock, 25, heard a knock about 10:30 p.m. at his door in the 200 block of Orchard Avenue.

Matlock answered the door and a man pointed a gun at him and ordered him back inside the apartment where he “just started shooting,” Matlock told police.

Police said Matlock was shot in the lower left leg and another bullet hit the television. The shooter left after firing the gun, Matlock told police.

Matlock said he doesn’t know the man and gave police a vague description.

Police said they found “a little” marijuana in Matlock’s home, but as of Friday he had not been charged with anything.

Matlock was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, for treatment and was still in the hospital Friday afternoon, police said. A spokeswoman at the hospital said he was in critical condition.
