Would-be robber gets no bank cash in Volant

VOLANT

A hooded woman with a duffel bag but lacking a gun wasn’t able to rob a bank Monday in Volant.

It was just past noon Monday in Volant when the modern day wannabe Bonnie Parker walked into the Northwest Savings Bank branch at 850 Main Street and tried to rob it, police said

A hood was covering her brown hair and the 5-foot-tall, 150-pound woman was wearing sunglasses and a hooded overcoat and carrying a duffel bag when she tried to rob the bank, state police said.

The teller refused to fill the bag with money and told the woman she was calling police. The woman left the bank and is wanted by police.

She wasn’t armed and didn’t get any money from the bank, police said.

Police are looking for information about the attempted robbery and are asking people with tips to call 724-598-2211. Northwest Bank employees said Tuesday they weren’t allowed to comment on the incident.
