Park owner says he’ll work with DEP

LACKAWANNOCK TOWNSHIP — The owner of a Lackawannock Township mobile home park said he will work with state officials to come into compliance with state laws concerning the park’s sanitary sewer treatment system.

“It’ll get worked out,” Mark Marcucci said Thursday. “It’s not like I’m a slumlord.”

The state Department of Environmental Protection has asked a local judge to order Marcucci to comply with department orders.

Marcucci, of Shenango Township, owns Remark Estates Mobile Home Park, 26 Kirkland Road, and runs a sewage treatment plant for the 10 mobile homes.

In March, DEP ordered Marcucci to pay the annual $250 permit fee, but he has not. In August, DEP ordered Marcucci to test the effluent – the treated water – discharged from the sewage treatment plant into Little Neshannock Creek, and hire a certified plant operator, both of which remain undone.

Marcucci said he was upset about the fee because he had paid it. He  went to his bank Thursday and made a copy of the check to send to DEP, he said.

Concerning the other issues, Marcucci acknowledged them, but said his previous operator had told him it was very difficult to take samples because the park produces very little flow. The park only has eight tenants, he said.

“I’m just easy going and laid back too much,” he said. “I should have been on top of it.”
