Man sentenced to prison for multiple robberies

MERCER COUNTY — An 18-year-old Sharon man will have a state tail on him until he’s 48 years old due to three robbery cases.

Anthony X. McMillan, was sentenced Friday by President Judge Thomas R. Dobson to a total of 6 to 30 years in state prison for his crimes.

“There are very high-level felonies,” Assistant District Attorney Miles Karson said prior to sentencing.

Because one of McMillan’s robberies involved a deadly weapon, Karson urged Dobson to run the sentences in the cases back-to-back, which the judge did.

“Your record merits this,” said Dobson, noting that McMillan has six burglaries, a theft and an intimidation of a witness conviction on his juvenile record.

McMillan said he was sorry and that he wants to go to barber school when released from prison and “do the right things” for his now 1-year-old son.

McMillan pleaded guilty in August to robbing three women in Sharon and Farrell of their purses in two incidents, one of which involved a gun.

McMillan admitted to breaking into a woman’s home Oct. 20, 2011, in the 400 block of Lorain Street, chasing her from her home and grabbing her purse.

In the Farrell case, McMillan knocked on a disabled woman’s door at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in the 1100 block of Hamilton Avenue and was let inside. He held a gun to one woman’s head, took her purse and then another woman’s who was there. He also took pills from each woman.

Dobson said McMillan has an addiction, but did not say to what and no more was said in court.

McMillan was given credit for 328 days already served in jail and was also ordered to pay $2,011 restitution.

Though the Sharon case reportedly involved two other men and one more man took part in the Farrell crime, no one else has been charged in either incident.
