Power rates likely to go down

BROOKFIELD — Consumers in Brookfield and Masury should see their electricity bills go down over the next several years, thanks to a competitive bidding process approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio this week.

Matt Butler, a PUCO spokesperson, explained that FirstEnergy — which supplies power to nearly all of Brookfield Township — will go through a series of reverse auctions beginning in the fall.
