SHARON —
One man has been charged and others are sought after three “strong-arm” robberies in Sharon since Saturday, said Police Chief Mike Menster.
Laven Davis, 20, of 130 Smith Ave., Sharon, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of New Castle Avenue and charged with robbery, theft and receiving stolen property, Menster said.
Police allege Davis robbed an 18-year-old Sharon man of his wallet and $183 Saturday afternoon near New Castle Avenue and Orchard Street.
The victim was trying to buy marijuana and was robbed instead, police said.
Davis was arraigned by District Justice Dennis M. Songer and taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $100,000 bail.
Police said they are still investigating two more robberies Monday a few blocks from the Saturday afternoon incident.
A 51-year-old Sharon man said he was robbed of $167 by four black males near Budd Street and New Castle Avenue, Menster said.
Two of the men wore black hoodies and another was wearing a ski mask, Menster said.
The man wasn’t harmed and the robbers ran once he turned over the cash, Menster said.
The man reported the robbery at 6:39 a.m. Tuesday, but he said it happened sometime Monday night.
Also that night, at about 7:30 p.m., a 68-year-old Sharon woman walking in the 300 block of Mesabi Street was robbed by two black men who stole her purse and $325, got on bikes and rode off.
“We believe they’re probably connected,” Menster said of the Monday night robberies.
