FARRELL —
Two men were shot early Wednesday morning in the 500 block of Emerson Avenue in Farrell, but neither man was charged with a crime.
“We’re still investigating,” said Southwest Mercer County Regional Police detective Capt. Doug Long.
Ralph Samuels, 47, of 517 Emerson Ave., was shot once in his right wrist, and three bullet holes were in his house after the gunplay, which was reported to police at 3:29 a.m.
Samuels told police he was sitting on the front porch when he was shot. He was transported to UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, where his condition wasn’t being released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
“We haven’t been able to speak to him,” Long said of Samuels.
About 15 minutes after the shooting, police were called to the emergency room at UPMC Horizon, Farrell, where Daniel L. Odem, 20, also of Farrell, was seeking treatment for a gunshot to his left arm.
“Both victims were apparently shot during the same incident,” a police news release said.
By Wednesday afternoon, Long refrained from making further comments on the shooting, aside from to say the investigation wasn’t complete.
“There may have been others in the area,” he said.
Odem is a 2010 Farrell High graduate who was a standout football player there, leading the Steelers to three straight appearances in the PIAA Class A Western Finals, each of which they lost to the Clairton Bears.
